Whitefish swimming had a good showing at their home meet at The Wave on Saturday.

As a team the girls came in second behind Glacier and the boys finished third, with Glacier and Columbia Falls ahead of them.

A highlight among Whitefish swimmers for the day was Ada Qunell’s performance, taking first and breaking Whitefish school records in two races. She broke the 100 Yard Breaststroke record, which was previously held by Annie Sullivan, by four seconds with a time of 1:10.47

and she also broke her own record in the 200 Yard Individual Medley by four seconds with a time of 2:11.71.

Among the rest of the girls, Helena Kunz had a great day placing second in the 50 Yard Freestyle and third in the 100 Yard Freestyle races. Sydney Mcintyre outpaced all the female swimmers in the 500 Yard Freestyle to take first with a time of 6:08.56. Nia Hanson was close behind her in the same event, placing third.

For the boys, Logan Botner edged out his opponents yet again in the 100 Yard Butterfly to take first with a time of 58.45. He also took second in the 100 Yard Freestyle race.

Jack McDaniel and Ben Dalen were neck-and-neck in the 50 Yard Freestyle. McDaniel placed second in the race and Dalen came in third less than two seconds later. McDaniel also took third in the 100 Yard Butterfly.

In the relays, the Whitefish girls took second in the 200 Medley Relay and third in the 400 Freestyle Relay. The Bulldog boys placed third in both the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Freestyle Relay.

Spread out across two meets there were swimmers from seven schools including Whitefish, Glacier, Flathead, Columbia Falls, Havre, Bigfork and Polson.

The Bulldogs are set to compete again in Great Falls on Saturday.
