Skaters from the Glacier Skate Academy recently traveled to Spokane, Washington, to compete in the U.S. Figure Skating Championship Series.

It’s the biggest competition of the year, with skaters from throughout the northwest, plus, California and Alaska.

Representing Whitefish in Pre-Preliminary Girls, Isley Simpson won first place and Karlee Brown earned fourth place. Whitefish’s Emma Marlowe won the Preliminary Girls event.

The skaters train with coaches Sean Wirtz and Kristin Cowan at the Glacier Skate Academy at the Stumptown Ice Den in Whitefish.

The skate academy will be forming its “Christmas on Ice” show at the Stumptown Ice Den on Dec. 18 and 19. To purchase tickets, visit www.glacierskateacademy.org.
