Whitefish City Council last week approved abandoning an unimproved portion of Whitefish Lookout Road.

Lookout Ridge, LLC owns about 250 acres of land in Whitefish north of Iron Horse and the road dissects the property. There is a short section of the road that is owned by the city and the owners contacted the city about abandoning it as they are developing the property.

Public Works Director Craig Workman recommended approving the request saying that the city had no use for the road.

The owners of the Lookout Ridge property are in the process of developing the property with a private resort with a variety of different features including a water park and an equestrian facility, according to the city.

Separately, Council also approved two conditional use permits for accessory apartments.

Pamela Green requested a CUP to construct an apartment above a garage on Columbia Avenue.

Troy Core requested a CUP to construct an apartment above a garage on Oregon Ave.
