Golf association has board openings

| September 9, 2020 1:00 AM

Board Member Openings

There are three vacant seats on the Whitefish Lake Golf Association Board of Directors starting in the 2021 season that run for three year terms. This year we have openings to replace Rick Billuni, Dow Powell and Jessica Tucker, whose terms are expiring. If you have been a Tier One member for at least five years and over the age of 18 you are eligible to run for the board. Please contact Terry Nelson at either terry@golfwhitefish.com or call 253-9154 to express your interest in serving on the volunteer board. Absentee ballots will be available in the Golf Shop starting on Sept. 19, so please let us know as soon as possible if you are interested in serving on the board. All Tier-One members are eligible to vote for officers.

Annual Meeting of WLGA

The Annual Business Meeting for the Whitefish Lake Golf Association will be held on Oct. 3 starting at 9:30 a.m. in the clubhouse. Seating will be adequately spaced for your safety and masks must be worn inside the building. Because of the coronavirus a brunch will not be served at the meeting. You will be allowed to cast your ballot for board members either ahead of or during the meeting this year. If you would like to review the finances from 2020, but not attend the meeting, copies of the financial report can be forwarded to you via email upon request.

Playing in the Wind

If you have the wind in your face on the tee resist the urge to swing harder as this is a recipe for disaster. Choke down on the driver an inch or two. Play the ball back in your stance more than you normally would and stand a little closer to the ball. Tee the ball lower than normal as well. Make a three-quarter backswing, swing through the ball and hold your finish about shoulder high. The ball should fly like a line drive in baseball and run out for some distance. “When it’s breezy, swing it easy,” just take more club.
