From here on out the Lady Bulldog volleyball team’s schedule is packed.

The Whitefish volleyball regular season only has two weeks remaining, five total matches with three of those being crucial Northwest A conference opponents. The Bulldogs have an overall record of 4-5 and are 3-4 in conference games. The team is sitting in fourth place, however within reach of Ronan in third place.

“We have Ronan and Columbia Falls which are huge games; we have three conference games left and every one is going to count, every point is going to count,” head coach Addy Connelly said. “It’s kind of down to the wire for us as we’re sitting in fourth position but we’re right there with second and third as well if we can get a win.”

Last week the girls played a non-conference game against Stillwater Christian Friday afternoon and won 3-1. Whitefish soundly took care of all the sets except the third where Connelly decided to use the opportunity to try out some new rotations.

She expressed that the girls served well and recorded a lot of aces in the match. Also the team’s hitters did a great job taking care of the ball.

“Games one and two they played really well, it was like 25-5,” Connelly said. “They played with a lot of confidence, I think they went in with no preconceived notions or anything so they just played like they do in practice. They were really aggressive and were very successful.”

According to Connelly, the volleyball team also took the week to reset and regroup heading into the final stretch of the season. They had six practices and also went out for a hike in the mountains to build more team comradery.

The team was set to play Ronan on Tuesday after press time. Previously this year, Whitefish lost to Ronan in four sets. Connelly credits that loss to not being prepared for the Maidens to bring a competitive game, and they were set to bring a different game face to that match this time around.

The girls then face the undefeated Wildkats on Thursday at home.

“Against Columbia Falls we’ve just been talking about taking care of our game and focused on what we’re able to do regardless of who or what’s on the other side of the net,” Connelly said.

Stats weren’t available from the Stillwater Christian game last week at press time.
