Hoagy C. Carmichael

| May 12, 2020 1:20 PM

Hoagy C. Carmichael, 84 of Whitefish, passed away May 8, 2020, at Hidden Meadows. God put a yodel in his heart.

Hoagy may have passed away quietly but he definitely did not live that way. He was a man who lived by his heart and both feet in. His stories were larger than life and every bit as outrageous. Those stories included his life as an avid hunter, motorcycle racer, master mechanic, ski instructor, hydroplane boat racer, local yodeler and his deep love for his family and church. Hoagy would give his shirt off his back for those in need. His heart truly was massive. He never met a stranger.

His stories, his heart and his yodel will be sorely missed by his loving wife, four children, five grandkids, extended family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Charles of Borromeo after all COVID-19 related restrictions are lifted and friends and family can all get together which possibly could be in the late fall. Austin Funeral and Cremation Services in Whitefish is caring for Hoagy’s family.

In lieu of flowers please help out a friend, share a story or tinker on a car.
