Marylu Nolde (May 28, 1938 to March 20, 2020)

This is not your typical obituary. But my Mom was not your typical person. She had a beaming smile that could light up a room. She loved her family and dogs dearly and had more talents than your average person.

Marylu (Mom) was born and raised in Great Falls, Montana, as was my Dad (Harold Nolde, “Hal”). They were both from loving supportive families. Mom and Dad met in high school and, after they both attended different universities, they returned to Montana where they were married and went on to have 60 years together. Only death would end their storybook marriage.

My Mom was a Registered Nurse and traveled along with my Dad’s busy corporate life practicing her profession in many states. When they settled in Arizona, she became a pediatric nurse and a darn good one. How do I know? She took care of her patients like she took care of her family when we were sick or injured with great compassion and love.

She was a gifted and talented musician — a vocal soprano in fact. She performed throughout her youth in productions and solo performances. When she transitioned to raising a family, she was the star of her church choir.

Mom and Dad raised two great daughters, one of them is me (Kristi Nolde-Morrissey) and the other is my sister, Mary Schraven. I must also mention their son-in-law Paul (my husband) who has been like a son to Marylu for 30 years. She was also blessed with one successful grandson, Kyle (my sister’s boy).

When we were a young family, we went camping, fishing, boating, and attended ASU football games. We also had a ball camping near the beach in Rocky Point, Mexico and watching musicals as a family. Everyone loved her and her outgoing personality. She had many hobbies including sewing, watching sports (huge ASU supporter), and being the go-to person for everyone seeking medical advice. In 1986, my parents built a summer home on the lake in Whitefish, Montana, and they lived the ultimate lifestyle: snowbirds. Mom was also active in supporting my Dad in his Masonic endeavors.

Mom and Dad had German Shepherds and Siamese cats throughout their lives together. Mom is survived by her adoring German Shepherd, Heidi.

To say she will be missed would be the biggest understatement. We will forever love her and will try to honor her life by living with her joyful spirit in mind. Mom, I love you.

Due to the pandemic, we are planning a service to be held in Whitefish, when our national emergency ends.
