Hockey team wins tourney in Utah

Team Montana, the 14 years old and under AA Tier II hockey team, recently won the Griz Cup in Salt Lake City.

Team Montana beat the host team, Salt Lake City Griz 4-0 in the championship game.

Whitefish players are Adam Healy, Finn Safir, Cody Polumbus and Landon Hindman.

The 15-player team defeated Texas (4-2), Couer d’Alene(2-0) and the LA Kings (5-4) to advance to the top seed in the championship.

The 14 and under team is an all-star team made up of players from Bozeman, Billings, Helena, Missoula and Whitefish. Three weeks each month these athletes play for their local teams against each other.

Once a month they come together and play as an all-star travel team. This season they have competed in tournaments in Boise, Denver and Salt Lake City. Next month they travel to northwestern British Columbia and then on to the national tournament the first week in April in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
