Thank You, Whitefish, for helping to make Whitefish Woody Weekend VIII a huge success. It was a great show with 42 beautiful classic boats from all over the Pacific Northwest, California, and Florida, 13 of which were new to Whitefish Woody Weekend. These boats represented 18 different manufacturers and nine different chapters of the Antique and Classic Boat Society. Thirty-one of the 42 participants came to the show from outside the Flathead Valley.

On behalf of the all of the boat captains, thank you to the over 1,400 dock-walkers who came out and supported the event. It means a lot to the boat owners to see the tremendous turnout. Over 600 people cast a vote for the “People’s Choice Award” on Saturday. It was the closest race ever with a very slim margin separating the top two boats. People’s Choice was awarded to “Twin Finn,” a 1959 Chris Craft Continental owned by Jim and Cyndi Atkinson of Chatsworth, California. The Captain’s Choice Award, voted on by the boat owners, went to “Patience,” a 1930 Dodge Model 25A, owned by Mike and Stephanie Magruder of Green Cove Springs, Florida. The Commodore’s Award was given to Bob and Anne Henshaw of Spokane, Washington, with their 1946 Chris Craft runabout, “For me and My Gal”.

We would also like to thank those who volunteered their time and docks for card stops on the poker run. It is great to see all the smiling faces so early on a Sunday morning. The poker run best hand was held by the crew of “Red Dog” a 1946 Gar Wood Deluxe Runabout owned by Scott and Maryly Suiter of Whitefish. The best poker run time went to “The Barb” owned by Larry and Barbara Schroeder of Kalispell.

Finally, we would like to thank The Lodge at Whitefish Lake and their wonderful staff for being great hosts of the event. The Lodge treated the boat owners to that great Whitefish hospitality and once again demonstrated their commitment to community events.

Tim Salt, Whitefish Woody Weekend VIII event director for the Big Sky Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society
