Librarian cares about students

| April 16, 2019 2:57 PM

I am a student and Whitefish High school discussing the non-renewal of contract one of our most valuable teachers in our schools today, her name is Ms. Craig. What Ms. Craig does everyday is try to make our lives better.

As students we don’t just see the library as a library anymore, yes we check out books, movies and camera’s on occasion but more than that it is the place where we discuss, laugh work, have fun, drink tea and talk to Ms. Craig. She cares about every student that walks into the library and works her hardest to connect with every one of us. Ms. Craig provides Whitefish High School students with new programs and opportunities, one of which is a Mental Health First Aid program than provides students with the knowledge and practice of seeing others in need and connecting them with a counselor.

Ms. Craig has provided a safe and enjoyable learning environment for students to express their feelings. If Ms. Craig is fired the school will experience a great loss.

As she goes throughout her day, she never thinks about herself, she is always is thinking about her students. Providing new resources and books for students to enjoy. She treats her students like people not teenage beings. She always has a smile on her face and greets everyone with open arms.

According to administration of Whitefish High School, Ms. Craig is “not a good fit.” Ms. Craig is the best fit for Whitefish High school library and every student understands that.

What the student body doesn’t understand is how does administration not see that. Is Whitefish High School administration that out of touch with students?

Samantha Galbraith is a student at Whitefish High School.
