Successful season at Whitefish Lake Golf Club
The 2017 golf season at Whitefish Lake Golf Club was another successful one with several course improvements being accomplished. Completing what was a several-year project of having five tees on each hole to allow players options that meet their desires and abilities was a much appreciated addition. Improving cart paths that connect the entire course allows cart traffic with minimal damage to the turf, especially during extreme wet or dry periods. The newly completed upgrade to the North Course putting green, gives us a larger surface to place practice hole locations and accommodate the traffic that we experience on a daily basis.

Hileman thoughtful
For some 20 years it was my privilege to serve as a judge, first as a District Court Judge in Flathead County, later as a Federal Magistrate Judge for the District of Montana. Prior to that I practiced law before a diverse number of judges at all levels. Based on that experience I believe that a good judge is one who listens carefully to both sides of a dispute, impartially determines the facts, applies the appropriate law, and promptly issues a well reasoned decision. Carole and I have known Bill Hileman since he first moved to Whitefish with his wife Susan. We have found him to be a thoughtful, careful and considerate person. We believe he would be a good judge who would serve our community well. We urge his support for Whitefish Municipal Judge.

Curtis has necessary experience for job
If name recognition were to be the sole standard by which elections are won, Mr. Hileman’s long presence in Whitefish, his name displayed on a law office building in downtown Whitefish and on seemingly countless front yards, would make him a shoo-in. The standard in this election, however, and as Mr. Hileman no doubt would agree, properly should concern intellect and experience in the job at hand.
Contemplating a special session
Following the close of the 89-day session of the Montana Legislature in late April, triggers were implemented to cut the budget. The legislature passed through SB 260, the Budget Stabilization Act set out a planned pathway of budget reductions if revenues failed to meet expectations. All four triggers were pulled but revenues continue to fall short in order to meet the state’s balanced budget including an ending fund surplus. At that point, statute required the governor to order all departments to contemplate a 10 percent reduction in their respective departments. Some services are protected by statute. For example, the judiciary, and sections of K-12 education including state funding per student cannot be part of the reduction plan. Following that procedure, hearings were held in the Interim Finance Committee. The proposed 10 percent cuts come after the cuts already imposed by the triggers from SB260. Most attendees objected to the scope and selection of services being cut within the 10 percent reduction. Especially hit hard is Health and Human Services (DPHHS) which provides programs including Child Protective Services, Senior Care, Mental Health Counseling, to mention but a few.

Hileman has experience for judge job
Next month the people of Whitefish will elect a new City Judge. I urge you to elect William Hileman to that position. I have known Bill for many years and can attest that he is an honest and fair-minded man.
Hileman strong advocate for community
We have lived in Whitefish for 31 years, and we have known Bill Hileman almost that long. He is a strong advocate for our community and has volunteered for many civic organizations over the years. More importantly, he has the well rounded legal experience and diverse background in issues of the law to make him. In our opinion, the absolute best candidate for the job of Whitefish Municipal Court Judge. We are proud to vote for Bill Hileman and we hope you will join us.
Hileman has perspective, understanding
I would like to endorse William Hileman in the upcoming election for the position of municipal judge. Bill brings with him 40 years of local legal experience. A lifelong Flathead Valley resident and member of the Whitefish community since 1977, Bill brings a perspective and understanding that only comes from years of being part of the local community. In addition, he brings valuable judicial experience through his work as a judge in Columbia Falls.
