FWP proposes boat inspections for nonnative species
Fish, Wildlife and Parks is seeking public comment on a new rule that would require vessels launched on Montana waters to be inspected at designated aquatic invasive species inspection stations operated by FWP.
Bill requires verification before issuing driver's licenses
A bill requiring the state to electronically verify that all foreign nationals are in the U.S. legally before issuing a Montana driver’s license or ID card was signed into law by Gov. Brian Schweitzer on April 18.

Gladys Doris Eisele Brist , 91, passed away on April 16, 2011 at her home in Whitefish. She was born Dec. 9, 1919 in Hutchinson, Minn. to Edward and Amelia Eisele. She attended schools in Minnesota, North Dakota and Montana. Gladys Graduated from Flathead County High School in 1937. Following graduation, she took a post-graduate course in business administration and she operated her own accounting service for many years.

Sort of a surprise! There on TV from the Montana House floor last week was Representative Alan Hale emotionally ranting about the deplorable attitude of the legislature, “trying to destroy the Montana way of life” by enacting tougher DUI laws. He added, such laws are not just bad for historic state social life, but also harmful to “small business.” His rhetoric brought memories of many previous political debates over DUI laws, and I dug out a column written in the mid eighties. That satire was widely reprinted, including in a large California publication. This is it:
