Volunteers needed for speech tourney

Print Article

We are members of the Whitefish High School Speech and Debate Team.

Ms. Mueller is the most amazing coach we have ever had in our experience at Whitefish High. Coach Mueller has created a community of people who are taught how to let their voices be heard and how to be better people. She always tells us before tournaments that before we are good speakers, we are good people, emphasizing the core our team is built on. Through her values, she has lead us to place at state in the top three for over five years as coach.

We are hard working, especially our coach who is willing to stay in the school library until 8 at night trying to help us prepare. Yet, as hardworking as our coach is, it is impossible for her to get to all 25 members of our team in one night. On top of that, Ms. Mueller teaches at Whitefish Middle School and now has to organize state here at Whitefish. In short, our coach needs assistance.

To compare, two of our main competitors, Columbia Falls and Polson, have five and three coaches respectively. Our one coach does the work of four.

Please, if you have extra time, volunteer and listen to a couple of speeches or debates. You can also help us by judging at our state tournament on the Jan. 31 or Feb. 1. If you are interested in helping us please email muellers@whitefishschools.org. We have serious potential, all we need now is to cultivate it.
