Haskill Basin

Come celebrate National Public Lands Day on the Whitefish Trail on Saturday, Sept. 29 by working on the Haskill Basin section of the trail. The Montana Conservation Corps will be helping to lead volunteers and teach everything folks need to know. All 42 miles of the Whitefish Trail are 100 percent maintained by volunteers. Meet at the Big Mountain Trailhead at 9 a.m. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes — safety gear will be provided. Kids over 11 years old welcome.

For more information about this and other scheduled outings, visit www.whitefishlegacy.org or call 406-862-3880 or email margosia@whitefishlegacy.org.

Mushroom Hike

Join Whitefish Legacy Partners on a Wild Mushroom Hike on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. at the Woods Lake Trailhead. Search for wild mushrooms and learn general classifications and identifying characteristics. This event is free and open to the public, and is suitable for all levels and ages. Whitefish Trail Run

The eighth annual Whitefish Trail Legacy Run offers something for everyone — long distances on single track trails and shorter options for families. The run is Sunday, Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Whitefish Bike Retreat.

A half marathon will explore single-track surrounding Dollar and Little Beaver Lakes, a 10K will loop Murray Lake, a 5k will complete the South Beaver Loop, and a 2-mile family fun run.

The race is made possible by Title Sponsor Whitefish Therapy and Sport Center and Event Sponsors, Hammer Nutrition, Step Ahead Foot and Ankle Clinic, and BNSF Railway. The race is hosted at the Whitefish Bike Retreat, a beautiful facility set on 19 acres. Racers will receive free lunch, craft beer (over 21), custom WT Legacy Run buff, and swag bag.

Register online at www.whitefishlegacy.org. All proceeds from the event directly support Whitefish Legacy.
